KEERC stands for Kosova Environmental Education and Research Centre. This centre is supported by the NGO KEERC Association, which was founded in 2016. The basic idea of KEERC is to promote a sustainable and ecologically resilient economy and to strengthen the commitment to nature conservation. This includes educating schoolchildren, university students and other groups and individuals about ecological interdependencies and promoting ecological research as a policy-supporting science. The centre will host courses, serve as a base for student field trips, and have a well-equipped ecological research laboratory. In addition, KEERC houses a public nature exhibition showcasing Kosovo’s natural treasures. It hosts educators, researchers and NGOs for training and provides temporary accommodation for local and international ecologists. Collaborators include the Universities of Prishtina, Prizren, Peja Konstanz, etc.
